Kind of sounds like White Wedding, no? Nope, it’s my sweater:
Work continues on my Olympics projects, and while it has been too cloudy here for any decent pictures, I do have a project from last month to show off.
(I think these pictures looks so grainy because of the background. Urgh!)
Cute, huh? I’m pretty proud of it, if I do say so myself. A completed sweater, for me, and it FITS! I loved knitting this sweater for so many different reasons. The pattern is well written and, because of the chunky yarn and seamless design, it was a super quick knit.
The pattern is Wrenna from the book French Girl Knits (check out a book review and pictures here). I was surprised at how easy it was to read a lace chart once I got started and through the first repeat. I think this was a good (read: relatively easy) pattern to start with.
I made a few changes to make the sweater “to my taste.” I chose to use a button for closure instead of leather lacing up the front. I think it looks good both ways, but I had seen a few Wrenna’s on Ravelry with buttons and liked the look. I also added an extra repeat to lengthen the sweater so that it falls at my hip.
All in all, a very satisfying knit. I highly recommend it. Oh, and I almost forgot! A big “E” for Exceeds Expectations to the yarn I used, Lion Brand’s Wool Ease Thick & Quick. I haven’t used a lot of Lion Brand but didn’t want to spend the money on the super expensive yarn called for in the pattern and the Wool Ease was half off at Michael’s, so I went for it. It was really nice to work with, super soft, and washable to boot. And it only took two and a half balls to make the sweater. Bonus! The only caution I have is that the yarn grows A LOT with washing, so make sure to knit a gauge swatch.

I prefer your version and fit to the one in the Book. On the model in French Girl Knits is is so so chunky looking and I didn’t like that rawhide closure at all.
Very cute and flattering.
